وهذا أبو بكر محمد بن داود الظاهري 6 الع؟ المشهور في فنون العلم من الفقه والحديث والتفسير والأدب»؛ وله قول في الفقه؛ وهو من أكابر العلماء ّ وعشمه مشهور ٠.

قال نفطويه: دخلتٌ عليه فى مرضه الذي مات فيه فقلت: كيف تجدك؟ فقال: حب من تعلم أورثني ما ترى. فقلت: وما يمنعك من الاستمتاع به مع القدرة عليه؟ فقال: الاستمتاع على وجهين: أحدهما النظر المباح» والآخر اللذة المحظورة. فأما النظر المباح فهو الذي أورثني ما ترى. وأما اللذة المحظورة فمنعني منها ما حدثني أبي» حدثنا سويد بن سعيد؛ حدثنا علي بن مُْهرء عن أبي يحيى القثات» عن مجاهد » عن ابن عباس يرفعه: امن عشْق وكتم وعفٌ وصبر غفر الله له وأدخله الجنة». ثم أنشد:
