ووجود الفعل الاختياري لا يكون إلا بوجود سببه من الحب والإرادة. وأما عدم الفعل فتارة يكون لعدم مقتضيه وسببه» وتارة يكون لوجود البغض والكراهة المانع منه. وهذا متعلى الأمر والنهي؛ وهو الذي يسمّى الكف» وهو متعلق الثواب والعقاب.

وبهذا؟ يزول الاشتباه في مسألة الترك 6 هل هو أمر وجودي أو عدمي؟ والتحقيق أنّه قسمان: فالترك المضاف إلى عدم السبب المقتضي عدميّ» والمضاف إلى السبب المانع من الفعل وجودي.

وكل واحد من الفعل والترك الاختياريين إنّما بإثره الحيّ لما فيه من حصول المنفعة التي يلتذٌ بحصولهاء أو زوال الألم الذي يحصل له الشفاء بزواله؟. ولهذا يقال: شفى صدره» وشفى قلبه ٠ قال: هى الشفاءٌ لدائى لو ظفرثُ بها وليس منها شفاءٌ الداءٍ مبذول؟

وهذا مطلوب يُؤثره العاقل» بل الحيوان البهيم؛ ولكن يغلط فيه أكثر الناس غلطًا قبيحًاء فيقصد حصول اللذة بما يُعقَب عليه أعظم الألم» فيؤلم نفسه من حيث يظنّ أنه يحضّل لذتهاء ويشفي قلبه بما يُعقب عليه غاية المرض.
