Ibn al-Qayyim’s text — in the voice of Iblīs addressing his troops
A literary device. In this part of the book Ibn al-Qayyim writes a speech in which Iblīs instructs his troops how to attack the human heart. These are Ibn al-Qayyim’s words, spoken as the devil — read them as a warning about how the enemy works, not as advice. Where the section begins.
وإذا شئت أن تعرف ذلك فانظر إلى إخوانهم من شياطين الإنس؛ كيف يُخرجون الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر في قالب كثرة الفضول» وتتبّع عثرات الناس» والتعرض من البلاء لما لا يطيق؛ وإلقاء الفتن بين الناس» ونحو ذلك. ويُخرجون اتبلع السنّة» ووصفَ الرب تعالى بما وصف به نفسّه؛ ووصفه به رسوله» في قالب التشبيه والتجسيم والتكييف.

ويسمون علو الله على خلقه؛ واستواء» على عرشه؛ ومباينته لمخلوقاته «تحيرًا». ويسمّون نزوله إلى سماء الدنيا؟ وقوله: «من يسألني فأعطيه» تحرُكًا وانتقالاً. ويسمّون ما وصف به نفسّه من اليد والوجه أعضاءً وجوارح» ويسمّون ما يقوم به من أفعاله ١احوادث»؛ وما يقوم به من صفاته «أعراضًا». ثم يتوصلون إلى نفي ما وصف به نفسّه بنفي هذه الأمور» ويُوهمون الأغمار وضعفاءً البصائر أن إثبات الصفات التي نطق بها كتاب الله وسنة رسوله يستلزم هذه الأمور 6 ويُخرجون هذا التعطيل في قالب التنزيه والتعظيم.
