وأيّ عذاب أشدّ من الخوف» والهمّ» والحزن» وضيق الصدرء وإعراضه عن الله والدار الآخرة» وتعلقه بغير الله» وانقطاعه عن الله بكل واد منه شعبة؟ وكل شىء 9 تعلق به وأحبّه من دون الله فإنّه يسومه سوءً العذاب. ٍ

فكلّ من أحبّ شيئًاا غير الله عُذِّب به ثلاث مرّات في هذه الدار: فهو يعلَّب به قبل حصوله حتى يحصل. فإذا حصل عُذ ب به حال حصوله بالخوف من سلبه وفواته» والتنغيص والتنكيد عليه وأنواع المعارضات. فإذا سُلِبَه اشتدّ عذابه عليه. فهذه ثلاثة أنواع من العذاب في هذه الدار.

وأما في البرزخ» فعذاب"يقارنه ألم الفراق الذي لا يرجوا عودّه؛ وألمُ قواتٍ ما فاته من النعيم العظيم باشتغاله بضدّه؛ وألمٌُ الحجاب عن الله وألم الحسرة التي تقطع الأكباد. فالهم والغم والحسرة والحزن تعمل في نفوسهم نظيرً ما تعمل الهوامٌ والديدان في أبدانهم» بل عملها في النفوس دائم مستمرّ حتى يردّها الله إلى أجسادهاء فحينئذ ينتقل العذاب إلى نوع هو أدهى وأمرّ.
