ومَثَلٌ الغيرة في القلب كمثل القوة التي تدفع المرض وتقاومه؛ فإذا ذهبت القوة وجد الداءُ المحلٌّ قابلا؛ ولم يجد دافعًاء فتمكن, فكان الهلاك. ومَثلها مثل صياصي الجاموس التي يدفع بها عن نفسه وولده ٌ فإذا كسرّت طمع فيه عدوّه.

أحدهما: أنه على التهديد والوعيد؛ والمعنى: من لم يستح فإنّه يصنع ما شاء من القبائح» إذ الحامل على تركها الحياء» فإذا لم يكن هناك حياء يِرّعُه من القبائح» فإنّه يواقعها. وهذا تفسير أبي عبيد.
