ولو لم يكن في الذنوب والمعاصي إلا أنها تورجب لصاحبها ضدّ هذه الصفات» وتمنعه من الاتصاف بهاء لكفى بها عقوبةً. فإنَ الخطرة تنقلب وسوسةً» والوسوسة تصير إرادة» والإرادة تقوى فتصير عزيمة؛ ثم تصير فعلاً» ثم تصير صفة لازمة وهيئة ثابتة راسخة؛ وحينئذ يتعذر الخروج منها كما يتعذر عليه الخروج من صفاته القائمة به.

والمقصود أنه كلما اشتدّت ملابسته الذنوب أخرجت من القلب الغيرة على نفسه وأهله وعموم الناس» وقد تضعف في القلب جدًا حتى لا يستقبح بعد ذلك القبيح» لا من نفسه ولا من غيره. وإذا وصل إلى هذا الحد فقد دخل في باب الهلاك.

وهذا يدلّك على أن أصل الدين الغيرة» ومن لا غيرة له لا دين له. فالغيرة تُحمي القلبّ؛ فتحمّى له الجوارخ» فتدفع السوء والفواحش. وعدمُ الغيرة يميت القلبّ» فتموت الجوارح» فلا يبقى عندها دفع البتة.
