حسن الظن بالله

Good expectation of Allah

18 passages

The Cure’s summary

Good expectation of Allah, Ibn al-Qayyim argues, cannot be separated from action: the one who does good expects good from his Lord, while the one persisting in major sins and injustice is kept from it by the estrangement his wrongdoing brings (A044-3, A045-1). Reflected on properly, good expectation of Allah is good action itself (A048-3); where it leads to idleness and sin, it has become delusion (A086-1).

Written for The Cure and checked against the Arabic — not Ibn al-Qayyim’s words. Each claim rests on A044-3, A045-1, A048-3, A086-1.
