نعم» ابن عبّاس غير مستنكر ذلك عنه. وقد ذكر أبو محمد ابن حزم عنه أنه سثل عن الميّت عشفًاء فقال: قتيل الهوى» لا عقل ولا قود؛؟ وفع إليه بعرفات شاب قد صارً كالفرخ» فقال: ما شأنه؟ قالوا: العشق. فجعل عامة يومه يستعيذ من العشق. فهذا نفّس من قال: من عشق وعف وكتّم ومات»؛ فهو شهيد.
