فإن صدر ذلك عن علم فهو عناد أقبح من الشرك» وأعظم إثمًا عند الله. فإنّ المشرك المقرّ بصفات الرب خير من المعطّل الجاحد لصفات كماله. كمال أنّ من أقر لملكِ بالهُلْك. ولم يجحد مُلكه؛ ولا الصفات التى استحقّ بها الملك» لكن جعل معه شريكًا فى بعض الأمور ُقربه إليه < خيرٌ ممن جحد صفاتٍ الملك وما يكون به مَلِكًا.

هذا أمر مستقرّ في سائر الفِطّر والعقول. فأين القدح في صفات الكمال والجحدٌ لها من عبادة واسطةٍ بين المعبود الحقّ وبين العابد؛؟ يتقب إليه بعبادة تلك الواسطة إعظامًا له وإجلالاً؟ فداء التعطيل هوا؟ الداء [71/ب] العضال الذي لا دواء له.

ولهذا حكى الله عن إمام المعطلة فرعون أنه أنكر على موسى ما أخبر به من أنّ ربّه فوق السموات» فقال: #يَهَنمَنُ أبن لي صَرََا لَمَلَ ألم اْأَنببَ © أَحْببَ اموب تَأَطلِحَ إل كد مرتى رَإِقٍ لأَطْنُمُ كبا > [غافر/ 97-776]. واحتج الشيخ أبو الحسن الأشعري في كتبه على المعطّلة بهذه الآية؛ وقد ذكرنا لفظه في غير هذا الكتاب.
