ولا يزال هذا النور يضعف ويضمحلّ» وظلام المعصية يقوى» حتى يصير القلب في مثل الليل البهيم. فكم من مَهُلكٍ يسقط فيه؛ وهو لا يبصره» كأعمى خرج بالليل في طريق ذات مهالك ومعاطب. فيا عزّة السلامة» ويا سرعةٌ العطب

ثم تقوى تلك الظلمات» وتفيض من القلب إلى الجوارح» فيغشى الوجه منها سواد بحسب قوتها وتزايدها. فإذا كان عند الموت ظهرت في البرزخ» فامتلا القبر ظلمة» كما قال النبي كَليةٍ: «إِنْ هذه القبور ممتلئة على أهلها ظلمة وإنَّ الله منوّرها بصلاتي عليهم».

فإذا كان يوم المعاد وحشر الأجساد علت الوجوة علوًا ظاهرًا يراه كل أحد» حتّى يصير الوجه أسود مثل الحُمّمة. فيالها عقوبة لا توازن لذَاتِ الدنيا بأجمعها من أولها إلى آخرها فكيف بقسط العبد المنخّْص المنكّد المتعّب في زمن إنّما هو ساعة من خُلْم فالله المستعان.
