وقال الإمام أحمد: حدثنا [1/95] يعقوب» حدثنا أبي؛ عن صالح» عن ابن شهاب» حدثني عبيدالله بن عبدالله بن عتبة» عن عبدالله بن مسعود أن رسول الله كِلِةٍ قال: «أمّا بعد يا معشر قريش» فإنكم أهل لهذا الأمر» ما لم تعصُّوا الله. فإذا عصيتموه بعث عليكم من يُلحاكم كما يُلحَى هذا القضيبٌ» لقضيب في يده ثم لَحَى قضيبّه؛ فإذا هو أبيض يصلة؟ ّ إ:

وذكر الإمام أحمدا عن وهب أن الرب عز وجل قال في بعض ما يقول لبني إسرائيل: إنّي إذا أططعث رَضِيتُ؛ وإذا رضيث باركثُ؛ وليس لبركتي نهاية. وإذا عُصِيتُ غضِبتُ» وإذا غضبت لعنت؛ ولعنتي تبلغ السابع من الولد.
