وقد ثبت في الصحيحين من حديث أسامة بن زيد قال: سمعت رسول الله كَل يقول: «يُّجاءٌ بالرجل يوم القيامة» فيُلقَى في النار» فتندلق أقتاب بطنه » فيدور في النار كما يدور [11/ب] الحمار برّحاه؛ فيُطيف به أهل النار» فيقولون: يا فلان ما أصابك؟ ألم تكن تأمرنا بالمعروف؛ وتنهاناا عن المنكر؟ فيقول: كنت آمركم بالمعروف ولا آتيه وأنهاكم عن المنكر واتيه».

وذكر الإمام أحمد من حديث أبي رافع قال: مرّ رسول الله كَل بالبقيع فقال: «أفٌ لك؛ أفٌ لك» فظننتُ أنه يريدني. فقال: «لاء ولكن هذا قبر فلان بعثه ساعيًا على آل فلان» فغلٌ ثمرة» فَذُر الأن مثلها من نار».
