وقد دلّ القرآنٌ والسنةٌ وإجماع الصحابةٍ والتابعينّ بعدهم والأئمّةٍ على أنّ من الذنوب كبائر وصغائرّ. قال تعالى: « إن تَحْتَيْْوا كَبَابرَمَا تهون عَنَّهُ نَكَيَر نكم ادك » [النساء/.]3١ وقال تعالى: #أَلَّذِنَ نون كِب رٌالْإِثو وَالْمَوَحِس إلا لمم [النجم/ 37].
