فإنَّ الذنوب هي أمراض متى استحكمَّتْ قتلَتث؛ ولابد. وكما أنَّ البدن لا يكون صحيحًا إلا بغذاءٍ يحفظ قوته» واستفراغ يستفرغ المواد الفاسدة والأخلاط الرديئة التي متى غلبت عليه أفسدته» وَحِميةٍ يمتنع بها من تناول ما يؤذيه ويخشى ضرره؛ فكذلك القلبُ لا تتمّ حياته إلا بغذاءٍ من الإيمان والأعمال الصالحة يحفظ قوته» واستفراغ بالتوبة النصوح يستفرخ الموادٌ الفاسدة والأخلاط الرديئة منه؛ وحميةٍ تّوجب له حفظ الصحة وتجنّب ما يضادّهاء وهى عبارة عن ترك استعمال ما يضادً الصحة. والتقوى اسم متناول لهذه الأمور الثلاثة؛ فما فات منها فات من التقوى بقدره.
